Starting from Zero: The Next Genesis by Edwin Escolero

S0NG – LOG 09

High up into the stars the sun glows brightly among the other elements that orbit its space. Flames surf around the orb of light and roar as they clash against each other. On an isolated section of the ball, flames burst like a bubble creating a flash. Energy waves are thrust onto the vast cosmos finding themselves in the atmosphere of neighboring planets.

On the terra a sand storm has receded as a weary sole makes prints on the grainy ground. Under the cover of boulders he turns to glance at the cave he vacated when a swing is made by a crane. Dodging the strike the man takes cover and finds himself at a standoff against the antiquated machine. An electrical current traces the outline of the clouds in the grey sky.

The rogue vehicle whirs as it short-circuits before the ragged man giving him the opportunity to infiltrate it. On the operator’s seat S0NG looks through controls in search of the ignition. Moving on its own once again the crane locks the tenacious man inside as he searches for the means to power off. Studying the lift he finds components that were retrofitted into the crane’s controls.

S0NG LOG 09Pulling off a circuit board under the ignition S0NG manages to deactivate the construction vehicle. Stepping out of the crane onto the sand in a daze he lays on his back and closes his eyes for a moment. A breeze strokes the adventurer’s face as he opens his eyes looking up to behold an aurora. Taking out his journal he makes record of the curtain of light that flows in the sky.
